Each school day is between 8.45am and 3.15pm and consists of five lessons.

Encouraging regular school attendance is one of the most powerful ways you can prepare your child for success—both in school and in life. Our school policy is that regular attendance means being here for every session that the school is open.

When you make school attendance a priority, you help your child get better grades, develop healthy life habits, avoid dangerous behaviour and have a better chance of leaving school equipped for life.

All students at The Dean Academy should arrive before 8.45am, ready and fully equipped to get the most from their lessons.  This will allow them to feel more connected to their community, develop important social skills and friendships. They will be significantly more likely to achieve well in their GCSEs so that they can move onto their choice of post 16 education, setting them up for a strong future.

Good attendance at school shows potential employers that a young person is reliable. Students who are frequently absent from school are more likely to become involved in, or be a victim of crime and anti-social behaviour.

Any medical appointments etc should, where possible, be booked outside the school hours.

If your child is absent please notify the school before 8.45am each day either by:
