Covid-19 Update, 19th March 2020
As it currently stands, we intend to fully open the school on Friday 20th March and run lessons as normal.
On Friday we will give out paper work packs to all students who have requested one. If your child has requested one and is not in school, these will be available to collect from reception on Friday 20th, 3.30pm-4.00pm, and Monday 23rd, 9.20am-10.30am. Work for all other students will be posted on Classcharts and there is a full guide on our website.
If you have not seen the letter that went to all parents and carers today, it is available here: https://thedeanacademy.org/2020/03/19/temporary-closure-of-the-dean-academy-letter/
Covid-19 Update 2, 18th March
Following this evening’s national announcement that schools will close after Friday, we will write to all parents/carers tomorrow with additional information. This will detail how work will be set after closure, and have information for key workers and those eligible for Free School Meals. The school website now has more detailed guidance for all parents/carers/students about how work will be set following closure. School remains open as usual on Thursday 19th March.
Covid-19 Update, 18th March
As it currently stands, we intend to fully open the school on Thursday 19th March and run lessons as normal. In the event that staffing levels change, we may have to partially close to some year groups but we don’t at this point see that this will happen. Please can all students bring their PE kit to school for Thursday and Friday. It is important that as a school, we continue to provide the best possible education for our students and every lesson counts so please do send your children into school unless they are subject to self-isolation as directed by government guidelines. The Education Secretary will be making an announcement at 5pm this evening — if we need to make changes to our provision in light of this, we will inform parents/carers as soon as possible.
