The school has recently undertaken to work towards achieving the Leading Parent Partnership Award; if we are successful, we will receive accreditation around spring 2014 and, more importantly, by then will have developed close and positive working relationships with all parents and carers.
In order to achieve the award, we need to ensure that:
- The school is a welcoming, communicative and friendly place for parents and carers
- The school promotes awareness and participation of all groups of parents and carers in supporting their children’s learning and developing their own learning
- The school holds and actively promotes enrichment opportunities and events for joint parent and child participation
- The school provides a good induction for all new parents and carers
- The school provides parents and carers with relevant and user-friendly guidance and information to help them support their children’s learning
- The school produces and implements parent-friendly policies to establish effective home-school links and improve children’s attendance, punctuality, behaviour, progress and positive participation in school
- The school provides good support for all parents and carers as their children leave the school
We will be looking at the following as possible ways forward: - Offering positive parenting sessions
- Providing you with information and advice workshops to further support your children’s learning
- Offering leaflets and guidance on specific areas of the curriculum, to enable you to support your children at home
- Developing opportunities for parents and carers of students with Special Educational Needs to meet to share experiences and learn more about available support
- Providing information on the website about adult learning opportunities in the local area
If any parents or carers are interested in being part of the working group, or have any suggestions of what you would like to see us doing, please contact us at:
